I am in awe at how amazing you both have been with Blitzen. Since you mentioned that you read a lot, I'd like to recommend that you do some reading about EFT, which stands for Emotional Freedom Technique. It is like an emotional acupuncture except instead of needles, you tap on your energy meridians with your fingertips. It might sound a bit woo-woo, but it can produce amazing results and is easy to learn, even for kids. There is a ton of information about it on the internet, including a free manual, but I suggest you start with the link from Dr. Joseph Mercola's webite http://eft.mercola.com/ because it gives a good explanation and has a video demonstration. It is definitely worth your time.

That was spectacular!!! I just recently (earlier this week), met with Reptar's to uncle's and their wives. They are looking to either move Reptar to live with one of them or to start having visits with them so give my husband and I a break. He is a very taxing kid, like B can be. Some of his issues are simular to B's, but not all. So for us it is great that we will be able to get breaks soon! But as I sat down to write issues and strengths and things we are currently working on with Reptar, I was amazed at how much I ended up writing! Glad to see I am not alone in wanting to prepare caregivers with as much information as possible to make caring for our foster kiddos as easy as possible. Sure they will most likely still have to deal. with melt downs and other possible behaviors, but at least they aren't going in blindly! Right?!

Just an idea, but I recently bought my boys a little tent for inside the house. It is easy to put up and take down. I just wondered if Blitzen might like a quiet place to cool off. This would be a great option becuase she could still be in the house, but in her own space inside! BTW...love what y'all are doing for Blitzen. I'm sure it isn't easy so lots of praise to you for keeping it all together.

We've been reading EVERYTHING we can and I took a training targeted at dealing with behavioral issues for children with trauma and it has been 5 months of trial and error. It is so different than the way my parents parented me -- she just can't go with the flow nor does she respond to cajoling or commands or threats (and don't get me wrong, I had very loving parents but 'get in the house now' was never something that I would have responded to with 'no, I hate you and my life, so no'). It is fascinating, really, when it is not very very hard!
